D’Amelio Terras is pleased to present GEL, an exhibition of four emerging photographers. While the subject matter varies from landscape to architectural settings to an index from the Frick art reference library, each artist uses the stasis of the photograph to express mood and emotional attachment to words and places.

Erica Baum (b. 1961) was the recipient of the George Sakier Memorial Prize for Excellence in Photography at Yale University in 1994, where she received an M.F.A. She also holds an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Hunter College. Her work is currenly being shown in “Hotspots” at the Nassauischer KunstVerein in Wiesbaden. She lives in New York.

Luisa Lambri (b. 1969) was recently in “Spectacular Optical” at Thread Waxing Space which will travel to the MCA in Miami. £ She is currently featured in “Yesterday Begins Tomorrow: Ideals, Dreams, and the Contemporary Awakening” at Bard College, curated by Francesco Bonami. She lives in Milan.

Rika Noguchi (b. 1971) has been exhibited widely in Japan, where she has received several prizes. This is the first time her work will be shown in New York. She lives in New York and Tokyo.

Yoshiko Seino (b. 1964) will make her gallery debut in Gel. She will have her first solo exhibition next year at the Koyanagi Gallery in Tokyo. She lives in Tokyo.
